The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India was established on 20 February 1997 by an Act of Parliament to regulate telecommunications services and tariffs in (New Delhi) India. The current chairman of the TRAI is PD Vaghela, a 1986 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer. The mission of TRAI is to create and nurture the conditions for the development of telecommunications in India so that the country gets a leading role in the emerging global information society. One of it main objectives is to provide a fair and transparent environment that promotes a level playing field and facilitates fair competition in the market all india. TRAI regularly issues orders and instructions on various topics such as tariff, interconnect, quality of service, direct to home (DTH) services and mobile number portability. In January 2016, TRAI introduced a significant change in telecommunications that would benefit all consumers. Effective January 1, 2016, consumers will be compensated for the call drop. [4] Although there is a rule, as per the rule, mobile users will get a compensation of Rs 1 for every dropped call, but it will be limited to a maximum of three dropped Any time calls in a day.
