Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit program launched by the Prime Minister of India and run by the government.
The program was introduced in 2017 and is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
This is a pregnant women conditional cash transfer scheme. It provides women with a partial wage compensation for labor loss during childbirth and delivery and provides conditions for safe
delivery and good nutrition and feeding practices. Currently,
the scheme has been implemented on the basis of selected pilot of 53 districts and it is proposed to be implemented on 200 additional
‘high burden districts’ consideration in 2015-16. The plan, Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana the Reconstructed Maternity Benefit Program,
is set to cover the entire nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his 2017 New Year’s Eve
speech that the scheme would be extended to cover 650 areas of the country.
According to the declaration, India accounts for 17% of all maternal deaths in the world. The country’s maternal mortality rate is estimated at 113 per 100,000 live births,
while the infant mortality rate is estimated at 32 per 1,000 live births.
The primary causes of high maternal and infant mortality rates are poor nutrition and inadequate
medical care during pregnancy and delivery. Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana YojanaPradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana
