Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana which provides good roads to unconnected villages in India. There are plans to connect 178,000 (1.7 lakh) habitations with more than 500 and more than 250 population in the plains to all-weather roads, which 82% of the roads were already connected. By December 2017 and the remaining progress has been made in March 2019 connecting every road. By 6 December 2014, there were plans to complete 4,000 houses. And under this scheme it is necessary to connect every house with a road. It is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 2000 by the late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the late Prime Minister of India. This scheme has started to change the lifestyle of many villagers as it has resulted in upgrading of new roads. PMGSY is under the authority of Ministry of Rural Development which was started on 15 August 2000. In November 2015, following the recommendations of the 17th Finance Commission, a sub-group of Chief Ministers was announced on rationalization of schemes sponsored by the Central Government (60%) and the states (40%).
