National Rural Livelihood Mission

National Rural Livelihoods Mission Scheme (NRLM) brought by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, brought by the Government of India. This scheme is designed for women. It is a scheme that works on promoting self-employment and organization of the rural poor. The program aims to organize the poor into SHG (Self Help Group) groups and enable them to become self-employed. The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) introduced the Swarnajayanti Gramin Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) in 1999 after the restructuring of the Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) to focus on promoting self-employment among the rural poor. The SGSY has now been remodeled to form NRLM thereby removing the shortfalls of the SGSY program. The scheme was launched by the Government of India in 2011 and is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Rural Development. It is one of the biggest initiatives in the world to improve the livelihood of the poor. The program is supported by the World Bank with a credit of $ 1 billion. This scheme was made successful by Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana on 25 September 2015. The main objective of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) is a strong desire and help to come out of poverty. They are entrepreneurial, an essential coping mechanism for survival in conditions of poverty. This is a scheme that will highlight their abilities to generate livelihood and help them come out of poverty.
